Lady Luck smiled on a Windsor, Ont., man Saturday
morning.
Casino Windsor officials said a man won $4.5 million
on a MegaBucks slot machine.
Holly
Ward said that the high jackpot had been drawing a lot
of attention from gamblers. Ward said the man left a
blackjack table to play the $1 slot machine because
of the buzz on the floor.
The man plunked some coins in the one-dollar MegaBucks
game and ended up with $4,547,153.25 - the largest jackpot
ever given away at Casino Windsor.
Officials said his win
was the largest in Casino Windsor history - and the
second largest MegaBucks win in the Ontario.
A $5.6 million jackpot was won at Casino Niagara in
February of 2002.
All of the 105 MegaBucks machines in the province
are linked to a jackpot that starts at $1 million
and continues to climb until someone - at any casino
- hits the winning payline. Ward said the jackpot
had been growing for some time.
"There's been a lot of excitement and tension,"
she said.
"There's a bit of friendly competition between
all of us about whose property it was going to hit
at."
Ward said the man spent about $100 on the slot machine
before he hit the jackpot.
No name was released, at the man's request. The casino
does not post the odds of winning on its website.
